A LITTLE ABOUT JARABACOA:

There are two famous expressions about Jarabacoa.  One speaks of its "eterna primavera" or eternal spring.  This explains the other one, "God lives in all parts, but He sleeps in Jarabacoa."  Jarabacoa's year-round spring-like weather is pleasantly warm in the day and can range from cool to quite chilly at night.

The little village of Jarabacoa is a direct 3-hour ride from Santo Domingo and is located only 45 minutes from the City of Santiago where large supermarkets & department stores can be found and where Circuit and District Conventions are held.

PRICE COMPARISONS

This is more than what you would pay for an unfurnished house which you can find here in Jarabacoa from anywhere between $5,000 R.D. ($136 U.S.) and $12,000 R.D. ($327 U.S.). The average unfurnished house would be about $7,000 R.D. ($190 U.S.).

On the other hand, you will be immediately set up with all furnishings and not need to purchase them, and these are very expensive here. So, it's definitely a trade-off and both options have their advantages.

A furnished house in this country comes with the following only: bed, fridge, stove and tank, and rudimentary plastic/wood table with chairs. Very rarely would it come with an inverter or hot water heater, and never with extensive dining room/living room furniture, TV, DVD, Wifi, lawn mower, and washing machine. A furnished house with just the basics would start at about $10,000 R.D. ($272 U.S.) and could run as much as $30,000 R.D. ($817 U.S.) and most likely would not include a yard and secure property.

CONGREGATIONS:

Jarabacoa has three Spanish congregations, one Haitian Creole Congregation, one English group and an ASL group.

There is a great need in all of Jarabacoa's congregations and groups,
particularly at the moment in the English and ASL groups and in the newly formed Creole congregation Meetings for field service are held every morning, and between all of the language groups meeting sometimes it looks like an assembly in the mornings!
