SCUBA DIVING

Samana diving is considered as the best diving of the north coast of the Dominican Republic as the rocky coastline with high cliffs leads to an extraordinary underwater world of drop offs and pinnacles rising from 165 feet to 15 feet of the surface. The dive sites are suitable for divers from beginner to advanced level and there are plentiful corals, sponges, canyon style incisions and hundreds of tropical fish.

The visibility of Samana's transparent blue waters can range from 100-150 feet. The sea floor varies broadly from shallow, reef sites featuring lots of deep undercuts, to systems honeycombed with large caves, tunnels and swim-throughs such as those surrounding the small rock islands of Las Ballenas (The Whales). Beneath the moderate depths of 30 and 50 feet, their vast collection of cave and tunnel formations, are numerous.

Stellina Diving has been  situated directly at the beautiful white sandy beach of Las Terrenas since 2008. Stellina Diving offers -Dive-Courses   PADI-Dive-Courses   CMAS-Dive-Courses and scuba diving to shipwrecks and caves as well as day trips to the Cabo Cabron--an uninhabited region on the island's northern coast, one of the most remote spots on the island.  The trip takes 1 hour. The special attraction of Cabo Cabron ist the steep coast, which slopes 80 meters.

CAVE DIVING:

The Dudu Lake is situated 25 km on the west of Nagua, in the direction of Puerto Plata. The diving-place Cueva Dudu is made of two freshwater-lakes, which are connected with two caves, 85  90 meters long and Stellina Diving periodically organizes day-trips to the Dudu Lake, for divers and people, who don't want to dive.   The Cave Dadu is a must for cave lovers. To access the cave there's a jungle which goes into a tunnel ending up in a lake. It's a beautiful cave with a lot of stalagtites. The entrance has big stalagmites that gives it the aspect of a big mouth.

Transportation with a little bus (ca. 1.5 h) - Diving in the Cueva Dudu or snorkeling in the lake for not-divers. Lunch at the "Cueva Dudu Restaurant". After lunch there will be the possibility to admire the beautiful beach of "Playa Diamante" or to take a bath in the blue hole.

After 4 years spent in working, discovering and traveling through the Dominican Republic and after having performed a PADI Diving Instructor training in Switzerland, we finally decided together with my partner to settle here in Las Galeras, pretty small village still preserved of the big tourist poles and located at the extreme Northern East of the Peninsula of Samaná. We could not go further; the road stops here on the beach and gives the feeling to be at the end of the world. e decided to stay there, not only for the charm of this nice village, but also for the most beautiful ocean floors of the Peninsula of Samaná and of the Dominican Republic Northern coast.

The coral, still alive, is extraordinarily beautiful. We can find here a variety of incredible diving spots : coral gardens, coral labyrinth, caves, walls, wreck and the famous spot of Cabo Cabrón (a coral tower which is going down from 7 meters to 55 meters).We can also meet Carey turtles, eagle spotted rays, giant barracudas, colored tropical fish and a lot of other representatives of the local fauna.

From the discovery of scuba diving (Discover Scuba Diver), to the first diving licence, the PADI Scuba Diver (for diving under the supervision of a professional), but also to the PADI Open Water (independent diver licence), all these courses are intended to the beginners.For the more experienced divers, we can offer the Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver et Dive Master certification courses
